About me
I am scientist.
With over a decade of experience in research, including a PhD in climate change, risk and flooding.
I studied how decision-making and risk reduction for natural hazards and disasters can be improved by modelling uncertainty and integrating human behaviour in management.
I have experience studying various geoscience phenomena, including glaciers, oceans, rivers and wetlands.
I am an advocate.
The push for equality against discrimination has motivated much of my work:
I co-founded and directed an LGBT+ sports charity to help queer folk develop social networks, engage in physical activity and fight prejudice in sports.
I have developed LGBT+ and neurodiverse networks in universities and scientific societies.
I deliver workshops, talks and articles to educate others towards more inclusive and equitable working environments.
I am a communicator.
I have engaged the public at pubs and bars, museums, art galleries and a music festival.
I inform evidence-based decision-making by brokering scientific knowledge and transforming complexity to support climate and environmental policy.
I communicate science through art, science, and speaking whilst training others to do the same.
